Role Overview:

Could you be our next Investment Operations Specialist? Globe Life is looking for an Investment Operations Specialist to join the team!

 

In this role, you will be responsible for assisting the Investment Operations Manager and other team members in the documentation and processing of all trades. The $20 billion in portfolios consists of corporate bonds, municipal bonds, commercial mortgage loans, Limited Partnerships, etc. The trade process is a critical function in the investment management process and includes entering trade details into spreadsheets, creating PDF packets, utilizing DocuSign for approvals, and allocating trades to different entities.

 

This position also supports daily cash/treasury functions responsible for over $3 billion of annual transaction activities including issuing commercial paper, processing inter-company loans, and dividend payments. The position requires strong Excel skills with a comfortable ease in working on multiple spreadsheets daily. Successful candidate must have ability to multi-task, be detail oriented, and have excellent communication skills. 

 

The position works closely with all areas of Investments and Cash Management daily and communicates regularly with Financial Reporting and Tax departments. Our team believes that a healthy balance between work and life is essential for individual and group success.

 

This is a hybrid position located in McKinney, TX (WFH Monday & Friday, In Office Tuesday-Thursday).

 

What You Will Do:

  • Responsible for trade processing cycle for all Globe Life investment transactions.
  • Prepare and manage the investment transactions life cycle; from approvals, allocations, and trade affirmation with pro-active communication to custodians, cash management, and accounting staff as needed.
  • Perform periodic tasks such as statutory deposit security movement with outside banks and insurance departments with various states.
  • Prepare monthly reports for inter-company loans, subsidiary dividends, trade acquisitions and commercial paper using Excel.
  • Perform periodic tasks such as back-up to share repurchase authorizations.
  • Assist and backup investment department team members, as needed or as directed.
  • Assist with inquiries from internal and external auditors, management, other Globe Life departments and external parties.
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with internal controls, company policy and other statutory or regulatory requirements.
  • Perform and assist with other investment projects and tasks as assigned.

 

What You Can Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, economics, or quantitative discipline (or related). 
  • Equivalent work experience in finance/investments (min 3-5 yrs).
  • Basic knowledge of investments and accounting is preferred.
  • Microsoft Word and Excel – intermediate to advanced level.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently on regularly assigned tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work as a team player.
  • Strong work ethic and understanding of financial concepts.
  • Willingness to take on additional duties as requested or required.
  • Prior use of Trade Order Management systems or Clearwater Analytics is a plus.

Savings and Investment Plan (401K) - Eligible employees may begin participating in the plan on the first day of employment.

Pension Plan - Eligible employees who complete one year of service with the Company become participants in the Pension.* (Not available to Cleveland Employees)

Medical - Benefits are available to all eligible employees and qualified dependents the first of the month following 30 days of continuous service.

Dental** and Vision - Eligible employees and qualified dependents are able to enroll the first of the month following 30 days of continuous service.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) - Our FSA has two components, Health Care and Dependent Care Accounts. These accounts allow employees to set aside a portion of their earnings on a pre-tax basis to cover out-of-pocket medical and dependent care expenses. Participation is elected on a calendar year basis and is available to all eligible employees the first of the month following the completion of 30 days of continuous service.

Health Savings Accounts (HSA) - A pre-tax Health Spending Account (HSA) is offered to those who enroll in the High Deductible Plan. It allows you to pay for health care expenses. Participation is elected on a calendar year basis and is available to all eligible employees the first of the month following the completion of 30 days of continuous service. Company contributes to HSA.

Short-Term Disability - Eligible employees may be entitled to salary continuance during periods of temporary disability. Benefits are based on employee status and years of service.*

Group Life and Long-Term Disability** - Eligible employees may elect life insurance and long-term disability coverage the first of the month following 30 days of continuous service.

Vacation and Paid Holidays - Employees are eligible for vacation upon the completion of six months of employment. In addition, the Company offers eight paid holidays.

Education Assistance - The Company supports employees who wish to continue their education to secure increased responsibility and growth within their professional careers. We offer a reimbursement program for expenses incurred through approved institutions of learning. In addition, Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) and International Claim Association (ICA) program courses are offered after the completion of six months of services at no cost to the employee.

Fitness Reimbursement - Eligible employees are able to receive up to 100% reimbursement for monthly dues (employee only).

Supplemental Plans** - Cancer, Heart/Stroke, Accident.
