Could you be our next Shipping and Receiving Manager? Globe Life is looking for a Shipping and Receiving Manager to join the team!
This position is responsible for The Shipping and Receiving Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations for Mailroom and Agency Supply. This role will oversee the personnel that executes all mail processes. The Manager is tasked with ensuring all staff are trained to properly handle all incoming and outgoing mail, daily. This includes, but is not limited to, sorting and delivery and all incoming agency orders, meet compliance and accuracy standards, and maintaining supply inventory for all lines of business.
This is an on-site position located in McKinney, Texas.
What You Will Do:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of 7 or more staff.
- Counsel staff on matters of performance, attendance, and/or unprofessional behavior, following the progressive discipline policy, which includes decisions on personnel terminations.
- Receiving and shipping incoming mail and packages according to company policies and procedures.
- Manage a team of mailroom staff to ensure efficient mail handling procedures are followed.
- Coordinate with shipping companies to arrange for pickup and delivery of large packages.
- Issuing postage and shipping labels, as well as tracking packages to ensure they have been delivered.
- Prepare outgoing packages for delivery using specialized packing materials or machines.
- Review incoming and outgoing mail for any errors or potential security threats such as biohazards or explosives
- Ensure that all supply ordering systems are functioning as expected, work with IT and/or Marketing as problems arise.
- Suggest enhancements to the current supply systems – if programming is required, write an Innotas and calculate the cost savings for approval.
- Contact person for minor system problems and individual to contact IT customer support when problems cannot be resolved at a local level.
- Evaluate daily workflow and coordinate with staff to evenly distribute workload during heavy periods.
- Receive and log supply orders submitted via e-mail, fax, and the LNL ordering system.
- Verify licensing and proper address/shipping information using CELS and mainframe applications.
- Review orders to assure accuracy of materials requested and compliance with state regulations and requirement.
- Oversee the review of inventory to ensure that supply needs can be met.
- Prepare outgoing mail/packages via various methods (i.e. USPS, UPS, FedEx, and/or courier service) using computerized manifest and manual methods.
- Work closely with Field Offices, Company Directors and Executive Management to ensure timely and accurate service and resolution to problems.
- Oversee the timely completion of shipments and meeting deadlines for special or non-recurring projects.
- Communicate information on a timely basis.
- Determine department readiness and meet objectives and assignments.
- Phone calls/email – answer questions and resolve problems – suggest alternatives.
- Ensure employees are properly trained, aware of company/department policies and procedures.
- Develop methods to ensure the timeliness and efficiency of the workflow and assigned tasks.
- Communicate to Management with a sense of urgency any problems with their staff, workflow, other departments, other company staff, emergency or unsafe situations, and company equipment.
- Be the Point of Contact for Sales, Executives, Recruiters, Directors, Agency Owners, General Agents, and Agents which do not require the involvement of Department Management.
- Interview and make hiring decisions for department/group.
- Be involved in coordinating state in Supply system maintenance and/or upgrades.
- Liaison activities with Sales and Upper Management.
- Correspondence and telephone communication with Agency Owners and/or Agents. Handle timely completion of shipments and meeting deadlines for special or non-recurring projects.
- Arrange for printing of any materials needed to complete processing of each order.
- Assist Branch offices in ordering materials through LNL inventory system.
- Assist with inventory control, including restocking of shelves and bins through the use of technology, use and involved with the training of business applications to enhance department productivity and efficiency.
- Work with Department Management to develop training guidelines, material, methods and classes.
- Complete statistical Supply reporting.
- Create or update procedures as needed.
- Train and cross-train other staff members when necessary.
- Complete Annual Staff Reviews and manage team time via Kronos.
What You Can Bring:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Inventory Control Systems experience required.
- Insurance background preferred.
- 4 years experience required.
- Excellent alpha and number recognition skills.
- Ability to type 40-45 wpm.
- Good math aptitude.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Ability to analyze information and make independent, logical conclusions.
- Ability to be accurate, organized and detail oriented.
- Ability to be a team player.
- Good organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Certification for forklift operation is a plus.
