Policy Issue Specialist

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

This position is within the New Business Department of Liberty National. The specialist will process pending policy applications under the guidelines specified by the underwriting team and Liberty National and work to resolve issues related to policies issued COD to amended per underwriting guidelines. The specialist will assist daily with keeping policies from being backlogged by issuing pending policies in timely manner. They must be able to communicate with both internal and external customers, including senior executive leadership regarding the status of policies and any related issues that cause delays in issuing. The specialist will also work additional duties as assigned by management/supervisor.

 

  • Issue pending policies per the guidelines established by underwriting in accordance with Liberty National processes and procedures.
  • Responding to email communication daily, includes answering questions, processing requests in timely manner
  • Issue policies into COD status that have been amended according to underwriting guidelines
  • Correct agent error issues to ensure proper pay of commission to correct agent
  • Complete Endorsement Letters to notify proposed insured of policy changes that impact premium and policy rating
  • Send notification of premium waivers for further processing
  • Send notification of refunds to be processed, track and ensure policies are completed and issued in timely manner
  • Assist with COD email box when overflow occurs to ensure prompt response to email inquiries
  • Process non-commissionable applications using BPM/OIPA system daily, prevent backlog of applications
  • Assist underwriting with clearing pending requirements for policies to facilitate further review by underwriting team
  • Clear Agent Error report daily to ensure correct agent information assigned to policies issued

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to communicate with various levels of management on a professional level
  • Experience with Word, Excel, Outlook, with the ability to learn new computer systems.

  • Detailed oriented
  • Prior insurance accounting experience required
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet departmental deadline
  • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail

Required Knowledge & Experience

  • College Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 2 Years Customer service experience
  • Call center experience a plus
  • 2 Years Insurance experience

Short-Term Disability - Eligible employees may be entitled to salary continuance during periods of temporary disability. Benefits are based on employee status and years of service.*

Group Life and Long-Term Disability** - Eligible employees may elect life insurance and long-term disability coverage the first of the month following 30 days of continuous service.

Vacation and Paid Holidays - Employees are eligible for vacation upon the completion of six months of employment. In addition, the Company offers eight paid holidays.

Education Assistance - The Company supports employees who wish to continue their education to secure increased responsibility and growth within their professional careers. We offer a reimbursement program for expenses incurred through approved institutions of learning. In addition, Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) and International Claim Association (ICA) program courses are offered after the completion of six months of services at no cost to the employee.

Fitness Reimbursement - Eligible employees are able to receive up to 100% reimbursement for monthly dues (employee only).
