PAS QA Team Lead (Hybrid or Remote)

Primary Duties & Responsibilities


The PAS Quality Assurance Team Lead shares the dual role of QA process and resource governance, as well as, execution of QA testing activities to support the overall testing needs of the PAS program including test planning, test execution, E2E testing and test automation.



  • Coordinate QA resources including offshore on assigned testing tasks
  • Working with pod leads to ensure all resources are following defined standards with regards to their management of testing-related user stories and tasks on the DevOps boards in an accurate and timely manner
  • Act as a project liaison for all QA activities between the QA team and other functional teams
  • Ensure resources attend requirements review(s) and provide appropriate feedback accordingly
  • Ensures QA feature test planning/design and execution for each feature release in the POD backlog
  • Oversee and present the QA level of effort estimates using the required organizational documentation
  • Oversee test strategy; ensure the creation, review and updates to a test plan
  • Oversees story points allocation of test case/data design, functional and integration test execution tasks
  • Ensure QA inclusion in release demos and appropriate feedback is provided accordingly
  • Oversee and participate in the creation of test cases and supported data needs using the organization-supported test management tools and processes; ensures business compliance via signoff
  • Oversee and participate in the execution of test cases using the organization-supported test management tools and processes
  • Provide on-going testing status reporting and metrics to QA Manager and release team; communicate issues and risks proactively
  • Oversee and participate in the entry and triage of bugs and tasks under bugs
  • Ensures traceability of test cases in DevOps environment with tags, FDDs and FRDs
  • Tracks original, completed and remaining hours for stories.
  • Oversees the quality of test cases going into QA repository based on guidelines outlined in QA documentation
  • Coordinate QA signoff and handoff to prepare user acceptance testing
  • Ensures that test case reviews according to SDLC standards are happening and approval emails are tracked
  • Ensures efficiencies in merging tests to have less tests in repository along with identification of automation candidates
  • Oversees escalations of blockers and also involves senior management for solutions
  • Supports QA resources and resource management along with participation on pod daily standups
  • Oversee UAT support; triages issues with release team accordingly
  • Coordinate QA resources around ‘pre’ and ‘post’ implementation activities
  • Assist the QA Manager and other functional team leaders in maturing formal QA processes, improving processes through metrics, ensuring QA team members are using industry-accepted best practices and ensuring quality goals are met
  • Manage non-release tasks, schedules, scope and deadlines
  • Lead and mentor QA team members, as well as guide outside contractual testers
  • Ensures that KT sessions are organized on a timely manner to help with resource management and organizes offshore work assignments

  • To ensure the program management team can make timely decisions team members must ensure project artifacts such as estimates, work completed, work remaining, task status, etc. are maintained on a daily basis
  • Risks that would impact the delivery of the assigned tasks on schedule are immediately communicated to the project management and/or program management team

Required Knowledge & Experience



  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or other related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years of responsible experience in an Information Technology environment which utilizes multiple subsystems, including three (3) years QA experience in a Senior or Lead role
  • Life insurance background and experience strongly preferred
  • Oracle OIPA (Oracle Insurance Policy Administration Solution) knowledge a plus
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Knowledge of software development and software testing structured methodologies and techniques
  • Knowledge around both Traditional (Waterfall), Agile/Scrum and Hybrid methodologies
  • Ability to lead QA team members in SDLC processes and best practices
  • Proven experience in meeting deadlines and managing multiple priorities
  • Experience with software testing tools (i.e. MTM/TFS, Quality Center, SoapUI, etc.)
  • Familiar with automation and performance testing concepts and best practices, as well as, communication processes between manual and automated resources
  • Experience using SQL queries to retrieve or modify data within database(s)
  • Knowledge of service-oriented architecture (SOA) technologies a plus
  • Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills
  • Acts as a team player that motivates and educates other team members

Participation is elected on a calendar year basis and is available to all eligible employees the first of the month following the completion of 30 days of continuous service. Company contribution to HSA ($4500 family, $2500 single plans)

Short-Term Disability - Eligible employees may be entitled to salary continuance during periods of temporary disability. Benefits are based on employee status and years of service.*

Group Life and Long-Term Disability** - Eligible employees may elect life insurance and long-term disability coverage the first of the month following 30 days of continuous service.

Vacation and Paid Holidays - Employees are eligible for vacation upon the completion of six months of employment. In addition, the Company offers eight paid holidays.

Education Assistance - The Company supports employees who wish to continue their education to secure increased responsibility and growth within their professional careers. We offer a reimbursement program for expenses incurred through approved institutions of learning.
