Enterprise Data Architect Manager (Remote or Hybrid)

Primary Duties & Responsibilities


The Enterprise Data Architect establishes and drives Data Architecture standards that guide Globe Life towards its strategic goals and progress in its Data Roadmap. This includes development of physical and logical data models, data transformation standards, analytics, data management techniques and approaches, application of data tools, and IT standards for data validation and quality. The Enterprise Data Architect manages a high-performing team of Data Architects and, through matrixed and peer relationships, leads Data Architecture throughout Globe Life.

The Enterprise Data Architect collaborates effectively with the Solution Architecture, IT Security, and Information Security teams to ensure all work is aligned with Enterprise Architecture standards. The Enterprise Data Architect guides or performs hands-on analysis of data and prototypes new capabilities in alignment with the data strategy. The role conceives, socializes, and executes IT data architecture initiatives required to support enterprise and IT data strategy. The Enterprise Data Architect defines and analyzes high-level data requirements needed to support business processes and identifies the architectural approach. The role also leverages extensive experience working with the business to determine needs for data and information. The Enterprise Data Architect guides evaluation of tools and techniques and makes decisions on fit for a data solution.



• Create and maintain a customer-focused process for reviewing Data Architecture requests, documenting solutions, proposing solutions, or providing approval as appropriate.
• Complete reviews, designs, recommendations, and approvals (or corrections) to Data Architecture requests in a timely fashion.
• Proactively guide the Data Architecture function to achieve successful implementation of the Globe Life data roadmap and strategy.
• Contribute to the ongoing maintenance of the data roadmap and strategy.
• Execute pioneering approaches and keep the team informed on emerging technologies, trends, and tools
• Guide design and analysis sessions with Data Architects and Technical Leads to come up with appropriate data solutions.
• Work with data stewards and Data Governance to determine business context of data and data relationships.
• Guide, review, and approve creation of logical and physical data models to support enterprise operational and analytical data structures
• Define and socialize data access models and standards for end user constituencies.
• Lead adoption of key Data Governance tenants such as Data Quality, Data Lineage, and Data Profiling etc.
• Drive successful employee performance through effective leadership techniques, employee engagement strategies, and continual training/development


Required Skills

• Able to work with data solutions on public cloud platforms such as AWS, AZURE
• Working knowledge of data warehouse platforms in the cloud, such as AWS Lake Formation, AWS EMR, and AWS Batch.
• Able to work hands-on with SQL Server, T-SQL, Query Optimization, Oracle, Erwin, Informatica Suite, Database Design.
• Skilled at working with relational databases as well as newer concepts, such as and not limited to, Schema-on-Read, modeling semi or unstructured data, agile way of data modeling, Graph databases, NoSQL etc.
• Ability to work with Data Modeling tools such as Erwin, ER Studio
• Proven leadership of a successful, fast-paced, team

Required Knowledge & Experience

• Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience, in information science, data management, computer science, data science or related field is required.
• Master’s degree in a related technical field is preferred.
• Experience working within the Life Insurance and Annuity industries strongly preferred.
• Experience with ACORD standards strongly preferred
• Ten or more years of experience in data analysis or computer programming
• Prior experience leading a team skilled IT professionals; 3-5 years preferred

Participation is elected on a calendar year basis and is available to all eligible employees the first of the month following the completion of 30 days of continuous service.

Health Savings Accounts (HSA) - A pre-tax Health Spending Account (HSA) is offered to those who enroll in the High Deductible Plan. It allows you to pay for many of the health care expenses not covered by your medical plan including deductibles and co-pays. Participation is elected on a calendar year basis and is available to all eligible employees the first of the month following the completion of 30 days of continuous service. Company contribution to HSA ($4500 family, $2500 single plans)

Short-Term Disability - Eligible employees may be entitled to salary continuance during periods of temporary disability. Benefits are based on employee status and years of service.*

Group Life and Long-Term Disability** - Eligible employees may elect life insurance and long-term disability coverage the first of the month following 30 days of continuous service.

Vacation and Paid Holidays - Employees are eligible for vacation upon the completion of six months of employment. In addition, the Company offers eight paid holidays.

Education Assistance - The Company supports employees who wish to continue their education to secure increased responsibility and growth within their professional careers. We offer a reimbursement program for expenses incurred through approved institutions of learning. In addition, Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) and International Claim Association (ICA) program courses are offered after the completion of six months of services at no cost to the employee.

Fitness Reimbursement - Eligible employees are able to receive up to 100% reimbursement for monthly dues (employee only).

Supplemental Plans** - Cancer, Heart/Stroke, Accident.
