SVP, Data and Analytics

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

This executive role is accountable for leading and collaborating with senior business leaders across Globe Life in defining a compelling vision and strategic direction for data and analytics, identifying and prioritizing investments to strengthen Globe Life’s data architecture foundation and analytical capabilities, and overseeing successful delivery of Globe Life’s data driven technology investments.


This position interacts with a wide variety of key senior leaders across Globe Life. This role requires a strong executive presence and leadership, strategic mindset that sets an aggressive but credible vision, organizational savvy to navigate and manage ambiguous and complex scenarios, deep technical knowledge of existing and emerging technologies and ability to orchestrate and marshal resources (people, business relationships, funding, and vendors) to get things done.  The position has a broad set of responsibilities that include the development of an enterprise data and analytics function supported by a skilled team.  This role will need to provide continual leadership for sustained functional success.

  • Evaluate current state of data, reporting, quality, and analytics-related functions and leaders
  • Set the vision and strategy for enterprise data and information management and governance; develop a roadmap, including related policies and controls, to ensure data is accurate, consistent, reliable, accessible, and secure
  • Accountable for maintaining and enhancing data and analytics platforms, sources, and partnerships; owns data governance, including data strategy
  • Lead a team of highly technical professionals to provide best practices on data structure, accuracy, security, and usability
  • Develop consultative and collaborative relationships with business and functional leaders to identify strategic opportunities that foster value creation potential.
  • Derive operational modeling excellence by managing existing processes and implementing new processes that leverage data and analytics capabilities to create strategic and competitive advantage
  • Create and build a strategy and agenda that treat data as a strategic asset
  • Collaborate with internal technology, product, and business owners to ensure optimal data architecture and technology are in place
  • Provide strategic and tactical leadership on data sources, integration, and utilization across the organization
  • Build and lead a multifunctional, dedicated organization whose mission is to deliver data and AI based actionable products to drive growth and success
  • Focus on business capabilities of the data and influences how it can be used to deliver value
  • Act as subject matter expert and steward of change to drive a data-driven culture
  • Create a disciplined operating environment that drives the highest levels of customer satisfaction
  • Coordinate with IT on data warehouse development priorities

Additional projects and responsibilities as business needs evolve and arise.

Required Skills

  • The applicant must have a proven track record of designing and delivering innovative data and analytics strategies for large and complex institutions.
  • Demonstrate ability to analyze and define business problems, provide predictive analysis, and identify appropriate business insights and solutions.
  • Innovative thinking and leadership with an ability to lead and motivate cross-functional, interdisciplinary teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and high level of personal integrity.

Required Knowledge & Experience

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in data & analytics.


Must also have the following specific qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, business, or equivalent related field. Master’s degree in Computer Science, business or equivalent (preferred)
  • Extensive experience solving data and analytics problems using quantitative approaches and a proven passion for generating insights from data.
  • Experience in leading teams to manipulate and analyze complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources.
  • Broad experience in multiple domain areas, such as data warehousing, data lakes, data hubs, business intelligence (BI), data governance, data architecture, data integration, data classification, data strategy, data quality management, data security and privacy, MDM, data standards.
  • Experience with contract and vendor negotiations and management including managed services.
  • Significant experience with cloud computing across virtualized environments.

Participation is elected on a calendar year basis and is available to all eligible employees the first of the month following the completion of 30 days of continuous service.

Health Savings Accounts (HSA) - A pre-tax Health Spending Account (HSA) is offered to those who enroll in the High Deductible Plan. It allows you to pay for many of the health care expenses not covered by your medical plan including deductibles and co-pays. Participation is elected on a calendar year basis and is available to all eligible employees the first of the month following the completion of 30 days of continuous service. Company contribution to HSA ($4500 family, $2500 single plans)

Short-Term Disability - Eligible employees may be entitled to salary continuance during periods of temporary disability. Benefits are based on employee status and years of service.*

Group Life and Long-Term Disability** - Eligible employees may elect life insurance and long-term disability coverage the first of the month following 30 days of continuous service.

Vacation and Paid Holidays - Employees are eligible for vacation upon the completion of six months of employment. In addition, the Company offers eight paid holidays.

Education Assistance - The Company supports employees who wish to continue their education to secure increased responsibility and growth within their professional careers. We offer a reimbursement program for expenses incurred through approved institutions of learning. In addition, Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) and International Claim Association (ICA) program courses are offered after the completion of six months of services at no cost to the employee.

Fitness Reimbursement - Eligible employees are able to receive up to 100% reimbursement for monthly dues (employee only).

Supplemental Plans** - Cancer, Heart/Stroke, Accident.
