Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Job Summary

As part of the Enterprise Data Services team, you will be responsible for participating in the creation and evolution of a technology road map for Data Lake that defines data architectures in support of the enterprise data strategy. The Data Architect should have a proven record of delivering technical solutions by working closely with business and IT partners. The Data Architect shall have hands on experience and expertise with data movement, design, systems and their management.  This team member designs and documents architectural models that show how the current and future needs of the organization will be met in an efficient, sustainable, agile and adaptable manner.


  • Design pipelines and practices for populating the Globe Life Data Lake
  • Migrate data from legacy systems to new solutions in the AWS cloud
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Guide the modelling of data for master data domains
  • Guide design and implementation of the Enterprise Data Life Cycle Management including storage, backup/recovery and data security technologies
  • Participate in business process modeling, working with the developers, with respect to data mapping and validation of the data’s life cycle
  • Strong team player that motivates and educates other team members
  • Participate in large, cross work stream/subject area projects requiring strong analysis, design, and leadership skills
  • Demonstrate clear, concise, accurate, and timely communication to management, peers, and customers; in written and oral form
  • Adopt, support, and participate in the implementation of the Enterprise Data Management Strategy

Required Skills


  • Extensive hands-on experience implementing data pipelines, data migrations and data processing using AWS services: S3, Lambda, Batch, Glue, Spark, Athena, Database Migration Services (DMS), Relational Database Services (RDS), Dynamo DB NOSQL, Amazon Redshift, Cloud Watch, Cloud Trail, Cloud Formation, Lake Formation,
  • Deep knowledge of the SQL language and database performance tuning.
  • Experience or knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery.
  • Strong coding and scripting experience with Python, PowerShell or similar languages.
  • Ability to conduct proof of concepts to try new technologies and services and publish the finding by creating detailed design specifications and related documentation.
  • Understand and develop architectural strategies for data modeling, design, and implementation to meet data requirements.
  • Research new technologies, data modeling methods and information management systems to determine which ones should be incorporated into company data architectures and develop implementation timelines and milestones.
  • Proven record of delivering technology solutions within agreed upon timeframes and to enterprise quality
  • Skilled communicator with exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Reliable and predictable attendance of your assigned shift
  • Ability to work Full-Time and/or Part-Time based on the specific position for which you're applying

Required Knowledge & Experience


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent work experience in a technical position
  • Exposure to all System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) phases, with experience directly contributing to design, development, validation, implementation, and operational support activities
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience of Information Technology platforms implementing in a technical and analytical role.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands on experience with Solution/technical architecture and database management in the cloud.
  • Strong experience of implementing AWS services to build Data Lake/Warehouse in an enterprise environment
  • ETL and ELT paradigms and platforms like Informatica, SSIS etc.
  • AWS Certifications are considered a strong plus
  • Experience working with Life & Annuity Insurance industry is a plus.

Health Savings Accounts (HSA) - A pre-tax Health Spending Account (HSA) is offered to those who enroll in the High Deductible Plan. It allows you to pay for many of the health care expenses not covered by your medical plan including deductibles and co-pays. Participation is elected on a calendar year basis and is available to all eligible employees the first of the month following the completion of 30 days of continuous service. Company contribution to HSA ($4500 family, $2500 single plans)

Short-Term Disability - Eligible employees may be entitled to salary continuance during periods of temporary disability. Benefits are based on employee status and years of service.*

Group Life and Long-Term Disability** - Eligible employees may elect life insurance and long-term disability coverage the first of the month following 30 days of continuous service.

Vacation and Paid Holidays - Employees are eligible for vacation upon the completion of six months of employment. In addition, the Company offers eight paid holidays.

Education Assistance - The Company supports employees who wish to continue their education to secure increased responsibility and growth within their professional careers. We offer a reimbursement program for expenses incurred through approved institutions of learning. In addition, Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) and International Claim Association (ICA) program courses are offered after the completion of six months of services at no cost to the employee.

Fitness Reimbursement - Eligible employees are able to receive up to 100% reimbursement for monthly dues (employee only).

Supplemental Plans** - Cancer, Heart/Stroke, Accident.
