Information Security Analyst II

Primary Duties & Responsibilities


At Globe Life, the Information Security Analyst II is responsible for executing and monitoring the Risk Management portion of the Globe Life Information Security Program to enable leadership to cost-effectively achieve and maintain an acceptable level of loss exposure in support of business strategic goals.

This position will lead information security risk analysis initiatives across the organization and evaluate activities and metrics of the Risk Management Program to identify areas for improvement in execution and reporting.

This position is based out of our McKinney, TX office. Remote or hybrid is an option.




  • Establish, implement, and maintain the Information Security Risk Management program and procedures in alignment with security frameworks, regulatory requirements, and Torchmark Information Security policies and standards
  • Perform focused risk assessments of existing or new services, technologies, and business processes and determine risk treatment activities
  • Communicate risk assessment findings to business partners
  • Provide consultative advice to business partners which enable them to make informed risk management decisions
  • Identify opportunities to improve risk posture; develop solutions for remediating or mitigating and assessing residual risk
  • Define, compile, and report on program metrics that effectively measures program maturity
  • Maintain strong working relationships with individuals and groups involved in managing information risks across the organization
  • Provide coaching to junior analysts
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills


  • Possess functional knowledge of the following program areas: Risk Management, Vendor Management, Asset Management, Access Control, Physical and Environmental Security, Operations Security, Communications Security, Incident Management, Business Continuity, Security Awareness, and Threat and Vulnerability Management.
  • Familiarity with the security and privacy principles of HIPAA, PCI, and NYDFS
  • Understanding of the purpose and applicability of ISO 27001 and 27002, ISO 27005, NIST 800-30, NIST 800-39, and NIST CSF
  • Knowledge of the basic concepts and issues related to information security and its organizational impact
  • Communicate complex information, concepts, or ideas in a confident and well-organized manner through verbal, written, and/or visual means
  • Function in a collaborative environment, seeking consultation with other analysts and experts, both internal and external to the enterprise, to leverage analytical and technical expertise
  • Leverage best practices and lessons learned by external organizations and academic institutions dealing with information security issues
  • Knowledge of the organization’s core mission/business processes, issues, objectives, and operations in information security and the operational impact of a security lapse
  • Design and conduct valid and reliable risk assessments in accordance with the FAIR risk analysis methodology
  • Apply critical thinking skills during the risk analysis process
  • Recognize and mitigate cognitive biases which may affect risk analysis
  • Awareness of holistic cyber threats and vulnerabilities as well as system and application specific threats and vulnerabilities
  • Good interpersonal skills that include the ability to effectively communicate both in written and verbal forms.
  • Stay current on the latest security trends, vulnerabilities, privacy legislation, and news items; communicate new finding with team members

Required Knowledge & Experience


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, or Information Assurance or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience (Required)
  • CISSP, CRISC, CISA, or CISM certification (Strongly Preferred)
  • Experience in multiple Information Security disciplines in support of the insurance, healthcare, or finance industries (Strongly Preferred)

Health Savings Accounts (HSA) - A pre-tax Health Spending Account (HSA) is offered to those who enroll in the High Deductible Plan. It allows you to pay for health care expenses. Participation is elected on a calendar year basis and is available to all eligible employees the first of the month following the completion of 30 days of continuous service. Company contributes to HSA.

Short-Term Disability - Eligible employees may be entitled to salary continuance during periods of temporary disability. Benefits are based on employee status and years of service.*

Group Life and Long-Term Disability** - Eligible employees may elect life insurance and long-term disability coverage the first of the month following 30 days of continuous service.

Vacation and Paid Holidays - Employees are eligible for vacation upon the completion of six months of employment. In addition, the Company offers eight paid holidays.

Education Assistance - The Company supports employees who wish to continue their education to secure increased responsibility and growth within their professional careers. We offer a reimbursement program for expenses incurred through approved institutions of learning. In addition, Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) and International Claim Association (ICA) program courses are offered after the completion of six months of services at no cost to the employee.

Fitness Reimbursement - Eligible employees are able to receive up to 100% reimbursement for monthly dues (employee only).

Supplemental Plans** - Cancer, Heart/Stroke, Accident.
