Job Summary

Primary responsibility is to accurately and effectively administer the company’s defined benefit, defined contribution, and other retirement plans including recommending and implementing improvements to various critical internal processes and transactions.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Determine employee retirement benefits by completing necessary pension calculations
  • Accurately process weekly pension and other periodic payments
  • Distribute and track retirees’ benefits paperwork to ensure timely return and follow-up as needed with retirees
  • Preparation and review of annual and semi-annual defined contribution discretionary and/or profit-sharing contributions
  • Provide support for internal and external compliance audits
  • Ensures retirement plans are administered in accordance with company, state, and federal guidelines and regulations.
  • Maintains knowledge of legal and regulatory changes, trends, and other developments affecting retirement benefits.
  • Annual ADP/ACP non-discrimination testing
  • Assist with the distribution of required notices and other time sensitive retirement materials
  • Preparation and auditing of valuation data for Pension Plans
  • Respond to requests from our third-party providers and reconcile payroll contributions
  • Assist in maintaining employee databases and data integrity with third-party systems
  • Non-discrimination test compliance, determine eligibility and contribution levels, complete and submit government forms, and prepare and distribute summary annual reports, etc.   
  • Support regular inquiries, investigations, and correspondence with retirees, active, and terminated participants in all retirement plans
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Skills

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • At least five years of experience working in the administration of defined benefit and defined contribution plans
  • Ability to read and understand complex plan documents
  • Ability to effectively prioritize competing tasks and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and verbal/ written communication skills
  • Ability to work well either independently or as part of a team with a focus on achieving exceptional results
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is required for success
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with ability to clearly explain retirement plan options in easily understood terms
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and other related software and system interfaces
  • Strong knowledge of ERISA and IRS regulations
  • SHRM-CP or PHR a plus

Required Knowledge & Experience

 Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or other related field required or equivalent work experience with proven problem-solving ability. 
  • Familiarity with a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures in employee benefits a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Fast-paced environment. Heavy PC use requires heavy visual activity and manual dexterity, and phone usage requires heavy hearing activity. Frequent bending/stooping while filing information in file cabinets and retrieving information from shelves and storage. Occasionally lifts and carries up to 20 pounds.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) - Our FSA has two components, Health Care and Dependent Care Accounts. These accounts allow employees to set aside a portion of their earnings on a pre-tax basis to cover out-of-pocket medical and dependent care expenses. Participation is elected on a calendar year basis and is available to all eligible employees the first of the month following the completion of 30 days of continuous service.

Health Savings Accounts (HSA) - A pre-tax Health Spending Account (HSA) is offered to those who enroll in the High Deductible Plan. It allows you to pay for health care expenses. Participation is elected on a calendar year basis and is available to all eligible employees the first of the month following the completion of 30 days of continuous service. Company contributes to HSA.

Short-Term Disability - Eligible employees may be entitled to salary continuance during periods of temporary disability. Benefits are based on employee status and years of service.*

Group Life and Long-Term Disability** - Eligible employees may elect life insurance and long-term disability coverage the first of the month following 30 days of continuous service.

Vacation and Paid Holidays - Employees are eligible for vacation upon the completion of six months of employment. In addition, the Company offers eight paid holidays.

Education Assistance - The Company supports employees who wish to continue their education to secure increased responsibility and growth within their professional careers. We offer a reimbursement program for expenses incurred through approved institutions of learning. In addition, Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) and International Claim Association (ICA) program courses are offered after the completion of six months of services at no cost to the employee.

Fitness Reimbursement - Eligible employees are able to receive up to 100% reimbursement for monthly dues (employee only).

Supplemental Plans** - Cancer, Heart/Stroke, Accident.
