Director of Culture & Organizational Development

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Globe Life is seeking a Director of Culture & Organizational Development, who will report to the VP, head of Talent. This innovative leader will be responsible for designing, delivering and maintaining an end-to-end approach toward enhancing our talent development offerings, services and measurements as it related to learning, organizational change management (OCM), equipping succession planning activities and DEI programming. This critical leader will be charged with strengthening both the functional and business competencies of the organization by promoting positive and sustainable culture change and building organization development capability throughout the corporation. Role is eligible for a Hybrid schedule (mix of remote/onsite in McKinney, TX, per the company’s Flexible Work Benefit/Policy)

  • Partner with Human Resources colleagues in Leadership and Executive Development, Selection and Assessment, Enterprise Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, and Workforce Analytics across the organization to drive a unified Learning, OCM and DEI game plan.
  • Develop and implement an enterprise learning strategy to develop capabilities that support business objectives and organizational growth today and for the future
  • Develop and define a cohesive plan based on the defined strategy for the organizational change management function; ensure successful implementation of organizational change management framework, while minimizing negative outcomes
  • Lead development of and sustain a comprehensive, integrated change management plan for all major digital initiatives, inclusive of managing a team to achieve results
  • Develop stakeholder plans that are integrated across organization design, culture, behavior, change management, change leadership and all organization development activities to support business strategy and change initiatives; partner with stakeholders to create and execute detailed change management plans
  • Accountable for managing an effective team dedicated to fulfilling the organization’s mission through highly successful program implementation, team engagement and continuous improvement; creating a culture of transparency and communication throughout the organization
  • Partner with the business, HR Business Partners and other talent partners to shape the learning strategy to meet the functional business specific learning needs
  • Ensures Diversity, Equity & Inclusion is incorporated into courses as a matter of how we operate, recognizing there will be some dedicated DEI courses
  • Develop key relationships across the organization that build trust and credibility in the delivered learning solutions.
  • Lead the change management activities within a structured process framework.
  • Design the strategic approach to managing change and support operations that fall within the domain of organizational change management.
  • Evaluate the change impact and organizational readiness to limit potential risk.
  • Implements communication and marketing plans to ensure key audiences are well informed and can easily access programs so they can learn where, when and how they want.
  • Evaluate programs to assess learning effectiveness and implement changes based on feedback from the organization.
  • Clearly articulates measures of success and expected business impact, keeping key stakeholders informed and engaged with learning investment.
  • Keep current with industry-leading development trends through benchmarking, external partnerships, and industry affiliations, ensuring the team is delivering relevant content.
  • Stay current on behavioral learning trends and leads team to apply innovative solutions to bring complex topics to life
  • Develop and implement innovative and creative programs aligned with best practices that provide a positive learning experience for all participants
  • Determine work effort, timelines and direct costs for project and initiatives
  • Bring a problem-solving mindset and be confident in challenging approaches and presenting ideas in constructive ways

  • High degree of endurance with ability to multi-task and deliver on portions of multiple projects in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment, and also adapt quickly to constantly varying priorities and subject matter
  • Exceptional facilitation and presentation skills to deliver in-house tor remote trainings and drive results through learning
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint); Learning Management Systems (LMS), and other on-demand, online meeting, web conferencing, and video conferencing applications that can facilitate communication and learning.

Required Knowledge & Experience

  • 10 years of leadership experience working in global, complex organizations in one or more of the recommended areas:                      People manager of people leaders (prefer 3-5 years)
    • People leader (prefer 5-7 years)
    • Learning & Development (prefer 3-5 years)
    • Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (prefer last 3 years in DEI space)
  • Motivated leader with strong leadership presence who will inspire and develop a high- performance team
  • Thought leader who provides expert guidance based on leading learning practices and innovative trends.
  • Demonstrated creation and successful execution of a strategy, including measuring impact
  • Strong leadership qualities with proven ability to lead and motivate geographically dispersed teams with the ability to work effectively with clients, senior management and other team members
  • Experience designing and implementing innovative enterprise-level learning programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data and analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills to drive outcomes
  • Knowledge and application of diverse learning styles and hybrid learning outcomes
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including facilitation and presentation skills with audiences of varying levels
  • Outstanding verbal/written communication, collaboration, negotiation and influencing skills to lead an environment driven by customer service and teamwork
  • Strong business acumen with demonstrated ability to tie business outcomes to learning impact
  • Proven consulting experience with the ability to translate business needs and priorities into deliverable learning objectives.
  • Brings an external network of contacts and thought leaders
  • Demonstrated inclusive leadership both in leading diverse teams and incorporating DEI principles into learning design
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles, curriculum and content development, multimodal methods of training delivery, learning platforms and evaluation
  • Experience identifying and defining metrics for measurement of progress and analyzing data
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems and technology a plus
  • Completion of one or more of the following certifications preferred:
    • L&D certifications such as Leadership Development Certification Program (LDCP), OD Certification Program (ODCP), and OD certified Consultant (ODCC), or Training is a plus
    • DEI certifications such as Certified Diversity Professional (CDP), Certified Diversity Professional (CDP), or Certified Diversity Executive (CDE) is a plus
    • OCM certifications such as Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP), ATD Certification in Change Management, or Change Management Institute (CMI) is a plus

Participation is elected on a calendar year basis and is available to all eligible employees the first of the month following the completion of 30 days of continuous service.

Health Savings Accounts (HSA) - A pre-tax Health Spending Account (HSA) is offered to those who enroll in the High Deductible Plan. It allows you to pay for many of the health care expenses not covered by your medical plan including deductibles and co-pays. Participation is elected on a calendar year basis and is available to all eligible employees the first of the month following the completion of 30 days of continuous service. Company contribution to HSA ($4500 family, $2500 single plans)

Short-Term Disability - Eligible employees may be entitled to salary continuance during periods of temporary disability. Benefits are based on employee status and years of service.*

Group Life and Long-Term Disability** - Eligible employees may elect life insurance and long-term disability coverage the first of the month following 30 days of continuous service.

Vacation and Paid Holidays - Employees are eligible for vacation upon the completion of six months of employment. In addition, the Company offers eight paid holidays.

Education Assistance - The Company supports employees who wish to continue their education to secure increased responsibility and growth within their professional careers. We offer a reimbursement program for expenses incurred through approved institutions of learning. In addition, Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) and International Claim Association (ICA) program courses are offered after the completion of six months of services at no cost to the employee.

Fitness Reimbursement - Eligible employees are able to receive up to 100% reimbursement for monthly dues (employee only).

Supplemental Plans** - Cancer, Heart/Stroke, Accident.
