Licensing Specialist – Technical Team

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Licensing Specialist will initiate and/or monitor the life cycle of thousands of agents appointed with various Globe Life companies, enabling them to sell products for their appointing company.  The Specialist is responsible for the collection, cleaning, recording, retrieval, and maintenance of information/data from multiple sources. This role is responsible for the independent evaluation of source documents, verification for accuracy, updating internal and external systems as applicable, prepare reports and manage data storage and retrieval systems.  This position directly impacts production, revenue, compliance, appropriate commission, hierarchy impact to Salesforce and reporting, new business continuity, and impacts the entire field force through their agent life cycle, to include onboarding, renewals, promotions, demotions, hierarchy changes, and terminations.

 

 

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

 

Key Responsibilities:
Daily Routine: (List in detail all the duties performed daily):

  • Review requests from potential agents seeking appointment or appointment renewal, evaluate and make decisions based on company guidelines
  • Order, review, and interpret investigative reports and make business decisions on behalf of the company
  • Research and review proper licensure for all active agents based on state requirements
  • Process state appointment and/or terminations
  • Process biographical and demographical changes
  • Set up hierarchies properly and implement all change requests to ensure accurate commissions payment
  • Calculate accounting totals and process payment and/or refunds
  • Properly handle and secure sensitive information from our agents, both personal and payment related
  • Make logical, independent decisions based on the needs of the business
  • Monitor Group email boxes and respond in a timely manner
  • Handle invoicing for all divisions
  • Maintain databases and mainframe with updated information
  • Build queries to support multiple departments, companies, and agencies
  • Create ad hoc reporting for multiple departments, contracted employees, and Legal.
  • Identify issues within licensing systems and provide immediate feedback to management
  • Respond to phone calls and email in a timely manner, answering questions, resolving complex issues, and providing explanations and solutions
  • Heavy oral and written communication with state insurance boards, agents and management
  • Communicate to management with a sense of urgency on any problems with work flow, other departments, other company staff, emergency or unsafe situations, and company equipment
  • Communicate with external vendors and Department of Insurance on behalf of the company and make logical business decisions

Periodic Routine: (List all duties performed on a regular basis less than daily such as weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc.):

  • Build reports for business metrics
  • Participate in testing stages in Licensing Systems programming and implementation
  • Complete analysis to process and pay state invoices
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Occasional Duties: (List all the duties performed on other than a regular basis):

  • Involvement in state audits where accuracy of mass data and timeliness of evaluation is a requirement
  • Review compliance vendor information and suggest updates
  • Assist with departmental Agent communications
  • Ensure data accuracy by performing periodic evaluations and updating as necessary

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work as part of a team
  • Tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity in respect to confidential information
  • Excellent alpha and number recognition skills with strong math aptitude
  • Type 40-45 wpm
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn various computer applications
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a focus on grammar and spelling
  • Ability to analyze information and make independent, logical conclusions
  • Must be accurate, organized, detail-oriented and able to concentrate for long periods of time.
  • Regular and predictable attendance required
  • Must be able to work independently meet department and production driven deadlines.

Required Knowledge & Experience

Education & Work Experience required

 

  • College degree or equivalent years of experience in a related field preferred
  • Prior work in the insurance industry, specifically agent licensing, is a plus
  • Experience with database management
  • Accounting experience preferred.

Company contributes to HSA.

Short-Term Disability - Eligible employees may be entitled to salary continuance during periods of temporary disability. Benefits are based on employee status and years of service.*

Group Life and Long-Term Disability** - Eligible employees may elect life insurance and long-term disability coverage the first of the month following 30 days of continuous service.

Vacation and Paid Holidays - Employees are eligible for vacation upon the completion of six months of employment. In addition, the Company offers eight paid holidays.

Education Assistance - The Company supports employees who wish to continue their education to secure increased responsibility and growth within their professional careers. We offer a reimbursement program for expenses incurred through approved institutions of learning. In addition, Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) and International Claim Association (ICA) program courses are offered after the completion of six months of services at no cost to the employee.

Fitness Reimbursement - Eligible employees are able to receive up to 100% reimbursement for monthly dues (employee only).

Supplemental Plans** - Cancer, Heart/Stroke, Accident.
