Broadcast Engineer

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

The Broadcast Engineer is involved in broadcasting and executing live and recorded presentations for a company that is centered on developing its salesforce and telling stories. In this position, special emphasis is placed on presentation, maintenance, and implementation of Globe Life’s video recording studio and live presentation venues at its headquarters and remote locations. The Broadcast Engineer is an experienced broadcast/IT professional who maintains, designs, documents upgrades, and executes live productions and works well both independently and on a team.   This position is based out of our McKinney, TX office with a hybrid schedule and WAH schedule.

• Responsible for implementing content creation and maintaining A/V equipment, including, but not limited to, technical oversight of Globe Life studios, conference center, playout and distribution systems, new equipment or equipment upgrades, field equipment for Media Department, and facility redesign
• Technically produce video podcasts
• Oversee and participate in technical aspects of productions in studio and conference center
• Source, schedule, and lead freelancers for productions
• Repair equipment as needed and install new equipment as needed with manufacturers
• Present facility and equipment upgrades, modifications, evaluation of equipment alternatives, and equipment selection and configuration
• Ensure completed facilities and installed equipment meet industry specifications and operate as intended
• Assist the Marketing Department in development of training programs for facilities operations and assist in complex technical issues and problem resolution
• Collaborate closely with producers and executive leadership for presentations and broadcasts
• Maintain scheduling of on-site production spaces and associated costs
• Gather, organize, and update requirements of assigned tasks and projects
• Present solutions to peers, Technology management and customers
• Keep software up-to-date on equipment and test for compatibility and function

 

 

Required Skills

• Programming and operation of broadcast switchers, soundboards, DMX lighting consoles, broadcast cameras, and other media studio equipment
• Repair of media equipment and coordination with manufacturers for repair of resources
• Working knowledge of DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and other networking aspects a plus
• Understanding of tri-level synchronization
• Video and audio codec compressions and streaming protocols (ProRes, H264, RTMP, Dante, AES67, SMTPE 2110, etc.)
• RF coordination
• Standard theatrical rigging practices and competencies
• Expertise in signal path and distribution of audio/video sources delivery across multiple end sources and channels
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, ability to thrive in a team environment, and aptitude for quick, quality decision making
• Highly detail-oriented and self-motivated
• Excellent organization and time-management skills
• Ability to progress multiple tasks and projects simultaneously

Required Knowledge & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, broadcast, telecommunications, or video production from four-year college or university
• ETCP rigging certification a plus
• Must have five years of professional live video and post-production experience
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office, Mac and PC operating systems
• Must be able to learn new technologies and become a power user

Short-Term Disability - Eligible employees may be entitled to salary continuance during periods of temporary disability. Benefits are based on employee status and years of service.*

Group Life and Long-Term Disability** - Eligible employees may elect life insurance and long-term disability coverage the first of the month following 30 days of continuous service.

Vacation and Paid Holidays - Employees are eligible for vacation upon the completion of six months of employment. In addition, the Company offers eight paid holidays.

Education Assistance - The Company supports employees who wish to continue their education to secure increased responsibility and growth within their professional careers. We offer a reimbursement program for expenses incurred through approved institutions of learning. In addition, Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) and International Claim Association (ICA) program courses are offered after the completion of six months of services at no cost to the employee.

Fitness Reimbursement - Eligible employees are able to receive up to 100% reimbursement for monthly dues (employee only).
