Globe Life Insurance Company is looking for an experienced Divisional Vice President – Corporate Actuarial to join their team in the Actuarial Corporate MCK UA department for our corporate location in McKinney, Texas.

Job Summary

The position will be a member of the Globe Life Inc. Valuation and Financial Reporting team.

The ideal candidate will maintain a positive and supportive attitude while working in a multi-team environment; demonstrate strong industry knowledge with excellent communication and analytical skills; possess multiple years of experience with life insurance company financial reporting and capital management; and be a member of the Society of Actuaries.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee GAAP and Statutory financial projections for use in Earnings Guidance and Statutory Capital Planning
  • Prepare earnings variance analysis memo
  • Manage process to use reinsurance for risk management and capital optimization purposes
  • Review monthly financial results and prepare earnings variance report and related analyses
  • Review trends in mortality, morbidity, and lapse experience to ensure proper reflection in projection models
  • Play a role on the team assigned to analyze acquisition opportunities and related transaction evaluations
  • Play a role in supporting proper ongoing governance as a senior member of the Actuarial Management team
  • Exhibit critical thinking and management skills in order to grow into a senior management role

  • Self-motivated professional skills to understand the company’s strategy and industry development
  • Strong quantitative skills and an ability to apply that knowledge under tight deadlines
  • A deep fundamental understanding of actuarial valuation, financial reporting, life insurer capital requirements
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with executive team
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a multi-team environment
  • Reliable and predictable attendance of your assigned shift
  • Ability to work Full-Time and/or Part-Time based on the specific position for which you're applying

Desired Knowledge, Skill , & Abilities

  • Experience and/or understanding of leading actuarial modeling platforms (Polysystems, GGY AXIS, etc.)
  • Experience in preparing capital modeling analyses for life insurance companies
  • Experience in reinsurance treaty drafting review and negotiation
  • Strong management and critical thinking skills


Required Knowledge & Experience

Education & Work Experience required

  • Fifteen or more years of life insurance company experience including financial reporting and modeling
  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or related field required
  • Membership in the Society of Actuaries

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) - Our FSA has two components, Health Care and Dependent Care Accounts. These accounts allow employees to set aside a portion of their earnings on a pre-tax basis to cover out-of-pocket medical and dependent care expenses. Participation is elected on a calendar year basis and is available to all eligible employees the first of the month following the completion of 30 days of continuous service.

Health Savings Accounts (HSA) - A pre-tax Health Spending Account (HSA) is offered to those who enroll in the High Deductible Plan. It allows you to pay for many of the health care expenses not covered by your medical plan including deductibles and co-pays. Participation is elected on a calendar year basis and is available to all eligible employees the first of the month following the completion of 30 days of continuous service. Company contribution to HSA ($4500 family, $2500 single plans)

Short-Term Disability - Eligible employees may be entitled to salary continuance during periods of temporary disability. Benefits are based on employee status and years of service.*

Group Life and Long-Term Disability** - Eligible employees may elect life insurance and long-term disability coverage the first of the month following 30 days of continuous service.

Vacation and Paid Holidays - Employees are eligible for vacation upon the completion of six months of employment. In addition, the Company offers eight paid holidays.

Education Assistance - The Company supports employees who wish to continue their education to secure increased responsibility and growth within their professional careers. We offer a reimbursement program for expenses incurred through approved institutions of learning. In addition, Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) and International Claim Association (ICA) program courses are offered after the completion of six months of services at no cost to the employee.

Fitness Reimbursement - Eligible employees are able to receive up to 100% reimbursement for monthly dues (employee only).

Supplemental Plans** - Cancer, Heart/Stroke, Accident.
