Sr Accounts Payable Analyst

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

The Sr. Accounts Payable Analyst reports to the IT Finance Manager and is responsible for completing critical AP tasks, including, but not limited to, analyzing invoice submission, coding expenses to the appropriate general ledger accounts, allocating expenses across companies and posting invoices to the financial planning software.   In addition, this position is responsible for the approval workflow, supporting IT leadership during their review and resolving all issues in a timely manner. This role will also support the IT Finance team with month end planning and reporting activities.


  • Serve as IT Finance’s first point of contact and represent the FP&A department and Globe Life in a highly professional manner; interfacing with internal stakeholders, as well as external vendors.
  • Maintain vendor inbox and vendor statements.
  • Verify accuracy of invoices and supporting documents and investigate questionable submissions.
  • Oversee approval workflow and ensure invoices are approved in accordance with company policy.
  • Provide additional support and guidance to IT leadership as they review and approve the invoices; research and resolve any resulting issues or discrepancies.
  • Enter invoices into financial software and ensure that invoices are correctly coded using Company's chart of accounts and department listing.
  • Provide analysis and feedback of efficiency and process improvements.
  • Assist IT Manager with annual operating plans, spend variance analysis and other responsibilities, as needed.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of accounting and general ledger coding.
  • Strong analytical skills, demonstrated ability to pay close attention to details, excellent accuracy and completeness, and adherence to strict deadlines.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS Excel
  • Exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills; ability to distill complex information
  • Willingness to support multiple team members and department initiatives in addition to normal responsibilities
  • Balances a high sense of urgency with presenting detail-oriented and accurate financial information.
  • Takes initiative and is not satisfied with the status quo.

Required Knowledge & Experience

  • 5+ years of cumulative Accounting/Accounts Payable experience required; IT Finance preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field preferred
  • Basic understandings of accounting and finance principles; experience working in or with Accounting or FP&A is preferred.

Company contributes to HSA.

Short-Term Disability - Eligible employees may be entitled to salary continuance during periods of temporary disability. Benefits are based on employee status and years of service.*

Group Life and Long-Term Disability** - Eligible employees may elect life insurance and long-term disability coverage the first of the month following 30 days of continuous service.

Vacation and Paid Holidays - Employees are eligible for vacation upon the completion of six months of employment. In addition, the Company offers eight paid holidays.

Education Assistance - The Company supports employees who wish to continue their education to secure increased responsibility and growth within their professional careers. We offer a reimbursement program for expenses incurred through approved institutions of learning. In addition, Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) and International Claim Association (ICA) program courses are offered after the completion of six months of services at no cost to the employee.

Fitness Reimbursement - Eligible employees are able to receive up to 100% reimbursement for monthly dues (employee only).

Supplemental Plans** - Cancer, Heart/Stroke, Accident.
